Whitebait

I got a surprise today on our walk along the Avon river ... someone had cleaned the Whitebait life cycle information.

The most interesting fact I read was that the eggs develop over 3-6 weeks. This doesn’t seem a very long time to develop considering a baby human takes around 40 weeks to develop. What fact interests you the most? Ka kite ano!

  1. Kia ora Miss McCombie,
It is always nice to find something clean, when for ages it was dirty.
Maybe they wanted to clean it because it could of been a way of getting Covid 19 from traces of fingerprints.
I have never tasted whitebait before. Though, I would be a bit hesitant if it was from the Avon or Heathcote River as they do not seem very clean.
My favourite fish would be salmon as you can put delicious dressings on it. Though, I do like a flounder also.
    What is your favourite fish?

    1. Kia ora Zara,
I feel exactly the same - it's like when you wash the car and it's like brand new again!
Whitebaid is delicious, especially in a fritter. In Scotland, whitebait is larger and more meaty.
My favourite types of fish would be: Haddock (used to get it in Scotland from the fish man) and Monkfish (I usually order this when I dine out as it's rather expensive to buy!)
I used to have pet goldfish and they lived for so many years!!
      Ka kite ano,
      Miss McCombie
