Groupings

Groups of animals along the river...

Do you know what a group of geese are called?
It’s a gaggle of geese. (If they are in flight it's a skein, team or wedge.)

Do you know what a group of ducks are called?
It’s a flock of ducks. (If they are in flight it's a skin, string or team.)

Do you know what a group of swans are called?
It's a flock of swans. (If they are in flight it's a bevy of swans.)

Can you find out some other animal group names?

In the picture below there are ducks, geese, and swans.

  1. Kia ora Miss McCombie,
I love the picture you took of the geese, ducks and swans.
I knew that a grouping of swans was a flock, but I did not know that when ducks are in flights they are called a skin, to me, a very unusual name.
I know that a a group of lions is called a pride, though I can not think of any more, so I used google. A group of cats is weird too, a clowder and kittens can be called a kindle. Another grouping name is a troop, what animal do you think this name is referred too?

    1. Hello Zara,
Thank you for your comment. The picture I take along the river are always so beautiful.
When you said 'troop' I instantly thought Rhinos because I imagined troops off to war so I reckoned it was a strong animal. However, when I googled it it came up with monkeys and apes!
What animal's group is called a prickle?

    2. Hello Miss McCombie,
Thank you for replying, prickle seems like something sharp and when I googled it, I was right. A prickle is a group of hedgehogs.
What animal has a group called a business?

    3. Hey Zara,
I chuckled when I found out a group of hedgehogs is called a prickle. Great name for the group!
Hmmm...business... something to do with animals that are busy all the time. Maybe meerkats? Let me google: Ferrets!!
What animal's group is called a conspiracy?
      This is fun!
